Ferrari’s don’t run on flat tires, like athletes don’t run on weak feet.
Your foot is your connection to the ground. They’re what we use to transfer the force we produce into any movement we perform – squatting, sprinting, or jumping.
Imagine trying to perform your 1RM squat on a trampoline, it isn’t happening.
In order to improve stability and force output during lifting (particularly the squat) I encourage the use of the foot tripod.
The foot tripod involves evenly distributing your weight between your 1st and 5th metatarsal and the heel. It leads to a greater surface area to balance upon and produce force.
In extreme examples, I’ve seen peoples squat immediately go up by 15kg by utilising this simple technique. Hope it does the same for you.
